Greater Noida: A team of top Noida officials and the Jewar MLA on Monday visited the site for the upcoming Noida International Airport to finalise the location for the foundation stone laying ceremony and the bhoomi pujan. While the spot has been inspected, the date is still being kept under wraps, with officials only confirming that the big-ticket event will take place at the end of August.
The inspection was carried out in the village of Ranhera. The team members included Arun Vir Singh, the CEO of Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL), the government’s special purpose vehicle for the Jewar airport project, police commissioner Alok Singh, and Jewar MLA Dhirender Singh.
“We have inspected the land area near Ranhera village. It is a big enough land for any ceremony to be held where possibilities of vehicular movement and helicopter landing were checked during the visit,” said Singh.
“However, this is our own initiative in line to keep two-three options ready. We will also inspect the land near Dayanatpur Khera which is towards the north, near the Yamuna Expressway as well as the land near Rohi village which falls in the middle of the acquired land in a couple of days and send all options to Lucknow,” he added.
The Jewar MLA said, “The possible place for the ceremony — close to the police outpost in Ranhera — has been inspected. Both PM Narendra Modi and chief minister Yogi Adityanath will be present for the ceremony, which will be held in the last week of August. We are now awaiting a confirmation from the PMO.”
The inspection comes a day after Adityanath directed that the design of the Jewar airport should reflect Indian tradition, culture and heritage.
