Thane, Jul 26 (UNI) Nearly 100 families from three buildings in the Mumbra township had a miraculous escape on Monday when two buildings developed problems while one of them subsided other one tilted and was sinking the civic officials said.
The civic officials said that the buildings have been since vacated and sealed by the civic officials as a precautionary measures.
It was around 21.09 hours one of the buildings, a ten year old one G plus 8, Swastik with 56 tenements subsided and the plinth and beams developed problems.
Giving this information the chief of the RDMC of the TMC Santosh kadam said that the teams of firemen and the RDMC cell rushed to the scene and rescued the occupants of the building and evacuated them and the building is since sealed. He said that the civic engineers will carry out a structural audit of the building.
The other neighboring building G plus 5 floors, also around ten years old Konkan Nagari, with 36 tenements also tilted and was sinking on the nullah. This building also posed a threat due to the Swastik and hence was vacated and the occupants removed out safely by the teams of the firemen and the RDMC. This building is also sealed by the civic officials.
The Assistant Municipal Commissioner of the TMC Mumbra Ward Sagar Salunke, told this correspondent that these two buildings were not not in the list of dangerous buildings.
He said that in addition to this one neighboring building G plus one storied which posed a threat due to these two buildings with six occupants had been vacated and the occupants shifted to safer places. He said that this building was not not posing any threat and as a precautionary measures the occupants had been shifted to safer places.
Thus he said that around 100 families in the township had been evacuated and shifted to safer places.
The entire operation was being monitored by the AMC it was stated.
