Greater Noida: Only one
hospital has responded to a proposal by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (
YEIDA) to build two 100-bed paediatric facilities off the Yamuna Expressway.
YEIDA, which had in June offered two plots of 5,000sqm each in sectors 18 and 20 for the two hospitals, has been forced to extend the deadline for applications till this Friday. The lack of response to build the two paediatric hospitals comes at a time governments across the country are ramping up their health infrastructure in view of an apprehension that more
children are likely to be affected during the third wave of Covid infections.
Initially, the last date for submitting applications was July 8, following which YEIDA was supposed to select the agencies on the basis of an interview and a presentation. One of the conditions was that the hospitals should be ready in 8-10 months.
“Under the institutional plot scheme, which was launched last month, we offered 10,000sqm in total to build the two hospitals off the Yamuna Expressway. But we received only one application — from Apex Hospital in Agra. So, we had to extend the deadline till this Friday,” said Arun Vir Singh, the YEIDA CEO.
Sources said though two private hospitals — Jain and Astha — had shown interest in the project initially, they did not eventually submit their applications. This left Apex Hospital of Agra as the sole contender.
