A House select committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot showed a never-before-seen video compilation of clips from the insurrection during its first hearing on Tuesday morning.

The footage showed a rioter punching the Capitol building windows on either side of a Capitol police officer and a cop backing off as former President Donald Trump’s supporters entered the halls of the building.

Another clip showed a rioter saying the insurrectionists were coming for ‘f**king b****’ House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and then-Vice President Mike Pence, whom they considered a traitor.

There was footage of gallows set up outside the Capitol building, with audio of Trump supporters saying, ‘traitors to the gallows’.

Before playing the footage, committee chairman Rep Bennie Thompson said the attack on the Capitol was an act ‘not seen since 1814 when British soldiers sacked the building’.

The video was shown before four Capitol police officers were set to testify on the physical and verbal abuse they experienced during the insurrection.

Republican Rep Liz Cheney said the video shows ‘the unbelievable violence and the inexcusable and intolerable cruelty that you all faced and people need to know the truth’.
