IIT-Kharagpur has taken responsibility to conduct the exam this year. Around 2.5 lakh top candidates of JEE (Main) qualify to take the test for admission to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Other universities—such as the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE), the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, the Indian Institute of Space Technology (IIST), the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISERs), and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) — use the score obtained on the JEE Advanced exam as the basis for admission.

While the JEE-Mains is conducted for admission to engineering colleges across the country, it is considered as a qualifying test for the JEE-Advanced.
