One of this year's top 30 Miss South Africa 2021 contestants is Savannah De Almeida, who hails from Hillcrest in Durban.

This 23-year-old social media and digital marketing specialist counts pasta and doughnuts as two of her food obsessions that are right up there on her list of favourite things to eat.

She also loves creating what she calls her health bowl - "a mouth-watering hearty meal that you can have for lunch or dinner".

Savannah is also a big dessert fan, and her favourite go-to pudding is homemade condensed milk ice cream.

"It's so easy and simple to make," she says. "Just three ingredients - and a little patience while it freezes - and you have the most delicious, more-ish pudding."

Cook along with Savannah here:

Savannah's Health Bowl

Ingredients

1 chicken breast

1 sweet red or yellow pepper, chopped

1 cup of raw spinach leaves

1 avocado

1 chilli, finely chopped

2 tsp olive oil

1 pinch of Himalayan Sea salt or Trocomare*

Method

Set the oven to 180°C and cook the chicken breast until crispy. Remove and slice into thin strips. Chop up the raw spinach and place in a bowl. Add the olive oil and chilli and mix to combine. Add sweet peppers and chopped avocado and then add the chicken strips.

Sprinkle salt or Trocomare to taste.

*Trocomare is a fresh herb sea-salt that also contains red pepper and horseradish and is available from leading health stores.

Savannah's Easy Peasy Condensed Milk Ice Cream

Ingredients

500ml cream

1 tin condensed milk

10 ml vanilla essence

Method

In a bowl, beat the cream until thick, and then fold in the condensed milk. Stir in 10ml of vanilla essence and mix until well combined. Scoop mixture into a suitable container and place in the freezer for a few hours until frozen. When serving, decorate with fruit or chocolate and enjoy.
