TNGASA 2021: 61,000 candidates apply for admission to govt arts and science colleges on Day 1

CHENNAI: More than 61,000 candidates have applied online for Tamil Nadu Government Arts and Science College Admissions (TNGASA) on the first day. Candidates can apply online for 1,06 lakh seats in 143 government arts and science colleges in the state till August 10.

Last year, around three lakh applications were received for 90,000 seats. Sources said the number of applications will be more this year with more students clearing Class XII.

All 8.16 lakh candidates appeared for Class XII declared pass based on the weightage system.

For government arts and science colleges, the TNGASA committee will prepare the rank list based on choice order and marks for individual courses and send it to the colleges. The college admissions committee will admit the students based on the rank list. The process may take two weeks.


The Directorate of Collegiate Education has asked all government colleges to set up admission facilitation centres to help the students apply online.
