Hyderabad: Transport Department plans to auction off safe vehicles

Hyderabad: The Department of Transportation plans to auction off safe vehicles parked in various RTA offices across the city. These vehicles have been in RTA offices for more than six years.

The vehicles are kept under the supervision of RTO due to the lack of car certificates, permits or due to violation of the Motor Vehicles Act. The owners can pay the fine and take their vehicles. But in some cases the owners are unable to pay the heavy fines or they cannot take their vehicles for other reasons.

There are a large number of such vehicles in RTA offices in Nagol, Secunderabad, Khairtabad and other offices.

Apart from RTA offices, the seized vehicles are also stored in RTC depots. But in 2019, the RTC requested the Department of Transportation to remove these vehicles.

According to some sources, the Department of Transportation has instructed its officials to sell these impounded vehicles until September 2021.

It is important to note that the city police also recently auctioned off the seized vehicles.

According to the rule, the officials must issue notices to the vehicle owners about the address indicated in RC books. However, officials say the owners are responsible for paying the fine and taking their vehicles. If they do not show up, their vehicles will be sold at auction.
