The manager of Land of Illusion Adventure Park posted an open letter in response to a 14-year-old drowning at the park last week.

Mykiara Jones, 14, died last Tuesday after being air lifted to Dayton Children's Hospital from Land of Illusion waterpark, Aqua Adventure. Butler County officials said that Jones was in the water for about a half-hour before rescue crews were able to find her.

In the open letter published on Land of Illusion's website, manager Ryan Perry addresses the drowning incident and offers his support to Jones' family.

"While we’ve been cooperating with state and local officials since the incident, out of respect for the family we have not communicated about specific details of the July 20 tragedy," Perry said in the letter.

The letter says that safety is a priority at Land of Illusion. Perry assures that training and daily equipment checks are mandatory at the park. Land of Illusion has also invested in specialized equipment and rescue tools.

"Not only does our park satisfy all applicable regulations, we go above and beyond because of our commitment to safety," Perry wrote.

The cause and manner of Jones' death has yet to be determined by the Montgomery County Coroner's Office.
