New Delhi, Jul 26 (UNI) The proceedings of the Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 1200 hrs on Monday minutes after it assembled amid ruckus by the Opposition parties over the Pegasus controversy.
As the House met at 1100 hrs, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu paid tributes to the fallen heroes of the Kargil war in 1999.
The Members observed a moment of silence in memory of the brave hearts.
Mr Naidu then congratulated Mirabai Chanu for winning the silver medal on Day 1 of the Tokyo Olympics, saying she ended the country's 21-year-long wait for a medal in weightlifting.
Members presented the report of Parliamentary committee on transport, tourism, and culture.
The Zero Hour began with the Chairman calling on Sushil Kumar Modi to speak which could hardly be heard as the Opposition started sloganeering against the espionage controversy.
Amid the din, Mr Naidu said he has received notices which were rejected as the issues have already been discussed.
When the Opposition continued with sloganeering, an agitated Naidu said several important issues, including the Covid-19, unemployment, problems faced by students due to online classes, could not be raised due to disruptions.
"We are becoming helpless," he said and adjourned the House till 1200 hrs.
Last week also witnessed frequent disruptions and adjournments over several issues ranging from Pegasus row to farmers' stir.
