Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 26 (UNI) With three more people have tested positive to the Zika virus, the total number of affected cases rose to 51 in Kerala on Monday.
A 53-year-old man from Sreekandeswaram, a 21-year-old woman from Palode and a 30-year-old woman from Medical College Hospital area in Thiruvananthapuram were identified with virus infection, Health Minister Veena George said in a press release here this evening.
Out of the 51 cases, 46 people tested negative till this day, and the rest of them are under medical observation.
Earlier, for the first time in Kerala, a 24 year old pregnant woman tested positive for Zika virus.
Later, she recovered within six days and gave birth to a healthy baby at a private hospital, KIMSHEALTH, here.
Zika virus disease is a new occurrence in the state now grappling with the Covid pandemic.
