COVID: Delhi records 39 new cases, one death

New Delhi, Jul 26 (UNI) The National Capital on Monday reported 39 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours along with one related death.

The fresh additions took the case tally and death toll to 14,35,949 and 25,044, respectively.

The positivity rate in Delhi, based on past 24 hours data, dipped slightly to stand at 0.07 per cent as out of 56,435 people tested, as many as 56,396 were found negative of the virus. On Sunday, the positivity rate was 0.09 per cent. The fatality rate stands at 1.74 per cent.

Of 56,435 tests conducted in the past one day, 45,423 were done by RTPCR while 11,012 people were checked by the Rapid Antigen Test. Till now 2.33 crore samples have been inspected for the virus.

To further understand, the RT-PCR test detects the presence of viral RNA and is able to detect a COVID-19 infection even before the person becomes infectious. The Rapid Antigen test detects viral proteins and reveals patients at the peak of the infection when the body has the highest concentration of these proteins.

According to the health bulletin, a total of 80 people were cured and discharged taking the total recoveries to 14,10,368.

Currently, there are 162 COVID patients under home isolation across the city. The number of active cases is 537 which includes patients under home isolation. Containment zones are 305.

Meanwhile, the government vaccinated 10,614 people in the last 24 hours out of which 6,996 beneficiaries received the first dose while 3,618 were administered the second dose. Till now, cumulatively, 96,68,514 people have received a vaccine jab in the National Capital.
