Telangana launches mobile app to help control TB

Hyderabad: As part of efforts to eradicate tuberculosis by 2025 and make its treatment effective, health authorities have launched a mobile app ‘TB Aarogya Sathi’ that can be used by patients as a tool to access various TB-related services, which monitor the availability of TB medicines. and diagnosis and even find details of the nearest TB treatment facility.

The mobile app ‘TB Aarogya Sathi’, currently available on Android platform, will enable patients to access various TB-related services in the healthcare facilities. The mobile app will actually empower patients and serve as a direct interface with the healthcare system, health officials said.

In addition to having unique features such as a self-assessment tool to diagnose TB, the app will also enable patients to track their progress with treatment and ensure that the drug regimen is adhered to, which is an important aspect of TB treatment is.

‘The mobile app will enable patients to see their current treatment details along with the progress and diagnostic details of the treatment. “Patients can also keep track of the details of funds transferred to their account by Director Benefit Transfer (DBT),” said senior health officials in the state.

Health officials said the most important aspect of the ‘TB Aarogya Sathi’ app is that it ensures that patients have access to their digital health records at any given time. The complete patient history, diagnostic tests, a list of prescription medications, information on adherence to the TB treatment regimen and the prognosis of the patient during treatment are available via the mobile application.

Residents using the ‘TB Aarogya Sathi’ app will also have access to frequently asked questions about TB, information on the symptoms of TB and side effects of drugs against TB.

Health officials said the app would be of great benefit to all stakeholders involved in eliminating TB by 2025, including medical officers, ASHA staff, paramedics, CHOs for health and wellness centers (HWCs), TB workers, NGO staff, self-help groups (SHGs) and the National TB Elimination Program (NTEP).
