Navjot Singh Sidhu cannot save Congress in Punjab assembly elections: Ashwani Sharma

LUDHIANA: Punjab BJP president Ashwani Sharma while taking a dig at the induction of Navjot Singh Sidhu as Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee head claimed that Congress will not find any benefit by presenting Sidhu like this because public knows everything.
Sharma was here in city on Sunday for taking part in meeting of party leaders and workers.
Before attending the meeting, Sharma interacted with media persons, he said, “It is internal matter of Congress party to give any post to anybody but I would say Congress has taken this step just to divert the attention of public from key issues of Punjab but it will not succeed in the attempt.”
He said voters are wise enough to question Sidhu that he was also in power for past four and half years but nothing was done for the welfare of public in these years. He said voters will ask Sidhu as well about the unkept promises those were made in the election.
Regarding farmers protest, he said, “The government has stayed the farm bills but even then protest continued against these bills which proves that protest is not for the sake of farmers benefit rather it was for the benefit of political parties.”
He said attacks were being made on the BJP leaders and workers and they were not being allowed to do any program in state and now all those intellectuals were silent who were raising hue and cry about mob lynching. Sharma said people in Punjab were watching everything and they will give befitting reply to those who want to spoil the peace of state.
Meanwhile answering the query about Congress leader Sunil Jakhar's blame that certain leaders were in touch with BJP leaders, Sharma said that we welcome leaders who want to see progress in Punjab but only Jakhar can reveal the names of those who are in touch with BJP.
