PATIALA: Gian Sagar Medical College and Hospital’s application for renewal of its certification for admissions to the second batch of its MBBS course has been approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB), which falls under NMC. NMC is the Indian regulator for medical education. Dr AS Sekhon, dean of Gian Sagar Medical College and Hospital at Ramnagar in Patiala district, said the college had an annual intake of 150 students in the MBBS course. The college, run by Gian Sagar Educational and Charitable Trust, is affiliated to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot. Dr Sekhon said the college had been closed down in 2017. In 2020, it had again been granted a letter of permission (LOP) by the Medical Council of India, later replaced by NMC.
