Western Province proved too strong for the Pumas in a Currie Cup clash on Sunday, running in five tries on their way to a 37-23 win.

John Dobson's chargers led 16-10 at half-time thanks to three penalties from flyhalf Tim Swiel and a try from Tristan Leyds which Swiel converted.

Gerrie Labuschagne kicked a long range penalty for the Pumas and they were awarded a penalty try five-minutes before the break after Province prop Sazi Sandi was sent to the bin for collapsing a maul.

The visitors took control of the encounter in the second half, running in tries from Paul de Wet, Leyds and Evan Roos with Swiel converting all three.

The Pumas added a penalty through Neil Marais and tries by Simon Westeraadt and Eddie Fouche.

Province move up to fourth in the log swapping places with the Pumas.

Next week the Pumas are away to the Lions while Western Province are at home to the Blue Bulls.
