Coronavirus live updates: Kerala cases hit 51-day high, India’s tally tops 40k

Maharashtra finally appears to be providing some positive news. In the last seven days, fresh cases have registered a relatively steep drop of 9.9%.

The southern state and the northeast region are among the only places currently recording a spike in Covid numbers, bucking a nationwide trend of falling cases.

Saturday’s tally was the highest since June 3, when 18,853 cases were recorded.
