Chandigarh: The police arrested three youths and booked three others for assaulting a Dadu Majra youth at the Rally Ground in Sector 25 here on Saturday. On a statement of victim Saurabh, a case under various sections has been registered. Those arrested have been identified as Gaurav, Sunny and Arun, while Happy, Sahil and Noni are yet to be nabbed. The armed persons attacked Saurabh on July 20. The victim, who suffered injuries, was rushed to the GMSH-16 where he is undergoing treatment. TNS

Unidentified body found

Mohali: An unidentified body of a middle-aged man was found in the Jayanti ki Rao rivulet at Teedan village, New Chandigarh. Villagers saw a partially submerged body on the banks of the rivulet on Saturday and informed the police about it. There were no injury marks on the body. The police have taken the body into their possession and kept it in a mortuary of the Kharar civil hospital. TNS

Patiala to play against Sangrur

Chandigarh: Patiala will host Sangrur in the ongoing Punjab State Inter-District Senior T20 Tournament on July 25. Carrom meet from August 14

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Carrom Association will organise 23rd St Stephen’s Carrom Ranking Tournament (men and women) from August 14 to 16 at St Stephen’s School, Sector 45. The tournament will be organised by St Stephen’s School under the auspices of the Chandigarh Carrom Association. Interested players, who are above the age of 11 years as on August 13, can confirm their entries with the organisers. Participants below the age of 18 years will have to submit consent from their parents for participation. TNS

AAP workers protest at Plaza

Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party staged a protest in front of the Sector 17 Plaza over the “double standards of Administration.” The protesters said the Administration was suppressing the voice of the public. They said there was no need for imposing Section 144 and if it had been imposed, it should be applicable to outsiders also. However, the scenario on the ground level is different. TNS

PU-CET portal reopens

Chandigarh: The Panjab University authorities have allowed opening up of the portal for inviting new applications as well as to complete the incomplete applications with regard to the PU-CET from July 25 (Sunday) to July 28. According to Dr Jagat Bhushan, Controller of Examination, PU, the step has been initiated on the demand of students. TNS
