Gurgaon: At least five students in the city — four girls and a boy — scored 99.75% in the Class 12 ISC boards, whose results were declared by the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Saturday. The board said since no formal exams took place this year, it wouldn’t be declaring toppers.
Three of the girls are from the Moulsari campus of The Shri Ram School and one from its Aravali campus. At Moulsari, Juhi Chaudhry, Meher Sarna and Suhasini Singh, all 17-year-old humanities students, were the joint toppers, scoring 399 out of 400 (best of four). “I’m very grateful to my teachers and the school for working really hard with us even when classes shifted online and the entire year was riddled with anxiety. I’m glad that all the hard work has paid off. Now, I look forward to pursuing economics from Columbia University,” Meher said.
At the Aravali campus of the same school, Anushka Aggarwal (humanities) scored 99.75%. “The period between April and July, in particular, was tense. Exams were postponed and it took a really long time before we were finally informed that they wouldn't be conducted. Then the entire row over the formula the board had prescribed for calculating results made us even more nervous. But now, we’re all relieved. I’m happy with my performance and thankful to my school,” the 18-year-old said.
Panav Dua of Scottish High International School topped the science stream at 99.75%.
In the ICSE Class X boards, girls were the top scorers. “All the nail-biting suspense around the boards during a pandemic is finally over,” said Debyani Kishore of Scottish High who scored 99.6%. “It feels great to have topped in my school. It’s all because of my teachers who didn’t let our studies get affected even when the education sector saw unprecedented disruptions due to Covid,” the 15-year-old, who aspires to pursue a career in medical research, added.
At Lt Atul Kataria Memorial School, Shaurya Anant and Kanishka were the toppers, scoring 99%.
According to CISCE, 2,229 students from 24 ICSE schools across Haryana attempted the Class 10 exams, while 877 from 13 ISC schools appeared for the Class 12 boards. Haryana was among the few states that recorded 100% pass percentage.
