Thackeray Govt is 'jinxed' : Rane

Kolhapur/Ratnagiri, Jul 25 (UNI) Taking a dig at the Uddhav Thackeray-led state government, Union Minister Narayan Rane said on Sunday that since inauguration of the 'pandhrya payache' (jinxed) government, calamities have befallen Maharahstra.

Talking to reporters at Chiplun in Ratnagiri district late this evening, he said "There is no chief minister nor any

administration. For the frightening situation the state and the entire state administration is responsible for the current flood situation in different parts of the state."

He said that the flood water rushed in from three sides in the local market and caused huge losses.

He further said that on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's direction, he had visited Taliye village in Mahad tehsil of Raigad district, where more than 44 lives were lost in landslide on Thursday and severe floods in Chiplun, Khed of Ratnagiri district.

Mr Rane assured that the central government would provide all necessary help to the affected areas and asked the state government to give compensation to those affected.

On Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's announcement that he would announce compensation only after taking review of the flood situation in two to four days, the Minister said that Mr Modi had told him to submit a report on the flood situation but the state government should give its relief package immediately and suggested that the state government should also transfer its officers who could not reach the site of Taliye disaster in time.

BJP Opposition leader and former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, who was present at the press conference, said that during the 2019 floods, his government had rendered help directly in Sangli and Kolhapur districts.

He asked the ruling MVA government to immediately provide help to the affected people.

Opposition leader in Legislative Council Pravin Darekar, Nilesh Rane and office-bearers of district unit of BJP were present on the occasion.
