Karan Johar excited to host Bigg Boss OTT, says mom’s dream come true

The special series of the Bigg Boss will be launched on August 8 on the digital platform Voot.

Filmmaker Karan Johar will step into the shoes of Salman Khan for the digital mini version of the popular show Bigg Boss, according to the news publication Indian Express.

The special series of the Bigg Boss will be launched on August 8 on the digital platform Voot. According to the sources, Johar, known to be a conversationalist and loves gossip, fitted the bill of the OTT version. He enjoys the format of Bigg Boss and he was excited to come on board given that the web version will have a younger audience.

The source further said that, unlike other TV shows, this would be a shorter commitment to Johar, making it more feasible for him as he is geared up for shooting Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh starrer Rocky aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.

Talking about his new project, Johar said his mom and he are huge Bigg Boss fans and wouldn’t miss it for a day. As a viewer, it kept him hugely entertained with dollops of drama. For decades now, he has always enjoyed hosting shows, and now with Bigg Boss OTT,  it will surely be Over the Top, said the filmmaker adding that it’s his mother’s dream come true.

Further, he promised that the show will be a lot more sensational and dramatic. He said he hopes he can live up to the audience’s and my friends’ expectations, make Weekend Ka Vaar with the contestants an enjoyable affair in his own style, and up the ante on the entertainment quotient, he added.

Adept at hosting, Johar has hosted several shows in the past. From hosting multiple seasons of Koffee with Karan to the dating show What the Love!, the filmmaker has even judged reality shows like India’s Next Superstar, Nach Baliye, and India’s Got Talent.

Meanwhile, Bigg Boss OTT will have social media stars, influencers, and some celebs as contestants. With the usual hour-long episode, viewers will also get to watch the journey of the contestants 24X7 live on the streaming platform. The TV show producer Endemol India will be bankrolling this digital version too.
