Nashik, Jul 24 (UNI) A married woman from Ghoti village in Igatpuri taluka of the district allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a running train on Saturday, in case of dowry death.
A case has been registered against the woman's husband and in-laws at the Ghoti police station for inciting and abetting her suicide, police said.
The deceased, Akshada Ratan Sonar, daughter of Ratan Ramnath Sonar of Nashik, was married to Vaibhav Lad of Ghoti town two years ago. However, after six months of the marriage, she was harassed by her husband and in-laws who demanded for Rs three lakh from her parents to buy a flat.
Fed up with harassment from her family over their demand for dowry, Akshada committed suicide by jumping before the train today.
Following the incident, her father filed a complaint alleging that his daughter was incited and abetted by her husband and in-laws to commit suicide. She was beaten and abused by her father-in-law from time to time.
Based on the complaint, police have registered a case against Akshada's husband Vaibhav Lad, Vilas Lad, Jyoti Vilas Lad and Monu Vilas Lad.
Further investigation was underway, sources added.
