Whether she's doing Pilates, kickboxing or yoga, Kareena Kapoor Khan has always been so steadfast about her fitness routine. “She walks into sessions all pumped up,” reveals Pilates expert and celebrity trainer, Namrata Purohit. “The best thing about working out with her is that she gives it her all. Sometimes, I catch her looking at me with a ‘Why are you doing this to me' face, but I know, and she knows, that she loves doing this. She is always game for trying new things and has the most fun with new exercises.” Here are a few lessons you can take from her.

1) Keep your body active even when pregnant

A mom to two boys, Khan ensured she stayed active throughout both her pregnancies and all three trimesters. “I think it’s very important that one has movement in their body. It could be in any form; going for a walk, weight training or swimming,” shares Kapoor Khan. Her advice is crystal clear: “One should do what they’re able to. I have never really pushed myself, I have done whatever I wanted to do, but not to the point of where I am exhausted.”

2) Let your workout outfits motivate you to exercise

“I think that the perfect wardrobe has to include things that you’re comfortable in,” suggests Kapoor Khan, who loves versatile picks when it comes to her co-ord workout sets. “Workout gear is not just about the fact that you’re working out. Most people don’t want it restricted to the gym, you can go out for lunch also in your workout gear,” she shared.

3) Add kickboxing to your routine

Khan is a big fan of kickboxing, and for good reason. She can be seen releasing her built-up energy by hitting the focus pads with her trainer, Drew Neal. The actor believes kickboxing comes with many mental health benefits. “The reason why boxing or kickboxing is good for your mental health is because it helps you release pent-up aggression through a positive activity instead of anger. And releasing your aggression will help you heal your mind and think clearly,” she says.

4)  Follow your workouts with a sustainable diet plan

Your workout routine can only be effective if you have a diet regime to follow it up with, and Khan knows that well. The actor has been working with nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar, and the two often work together to tweak Kapoor Khan's routine in accordance to her needs. You will see a mix of carbs, fats and protein. Grains like rice and wheat are important to Kapoor Khan. Even, greens like spinach, broccoli, and fenugreek make their way into her diet. What's not on the menu? A strict diet that is too hard to maintain. “I’m a Kapoor—we love our food—and I can’t diet," she shared in 2018.

5) Let yoga serve as self-care

For Kapoor Khan, her yoga journey began in 2006 and has kept her going strong right upto the birth of her second child. She recently shared her love for yoga on one of her Instagram captions, “Now after two babies and four months postpartum...this time I was just exhausted and in too much pain to get back but today I’m slowly and steadily getting back at it. My yoga time is my me time... and of course, consistency is key... so, keep at it people.”
