NOIDA: A total of 68 children who were reported missing from Noida and other areas were reunited with their parents under the Noida police’s “Operation Muskaan 4”. Of these 68 kids, 48 had been reported missing from Gautam Budh Nagar district. One of them was from Odisha.
Ten children reported missing were traced within hours and handed over to their families. Starting June 21, the month-long operation to trace missing kids involved as many as 40 teams from different police stations. While 12 children were from other districts of Uttar Pradesh, eight belonged to other states, the police said.
Devendra Yadav, inspector in-charge of the anti-human trafficking unit of Noida police, said 21 of these children were found staying in different shelter homes of Noida, Ghaziabad and Delhi.
“Twenty children were from different districts of UP and other states. One of them was from Odisha, four from Bihar, one from Haryana and two from Delhi,” he added.
The children who were recovered by the police were handed over to their families after being produced before the child welfare committee (CWC).
Under the month-long “Operation Muskaan”, the police teams were given a list of 58 children who had been reported missing from Noida and other areas — 10 kids were traced within hours of lodging complaints. The cops were told to look for kids roaming aimlessly on roads, working in eateries or staying in shelter homes.
