Maruti Suzuki Dzire
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire is the best-selling sedan in the country. It is the biggest rival to almost every other subcompact sedan in our market. The sedan comes as a petrol-only model. It is powered by a 1.2-litre engine, which is mated to either a 5-speed manual or an AMT unit. The car is priced between ₹ 5.98 lakh to ₹ 9.03 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Hyundai Aura
The Hyundai Aura is another option that you can consider if you are looking to take home a subcompact sedan. The sedan comes with a choice of petrol and diesel engines. It is available in three engine options - 1.2 petrol, 1.0 turbo petrol and 1.2-litre diesel engine. It's also offered in a CNG version, which is available on the 1.2-litre petrol engine. Tata Tigor
The Tata Tigor is right now the most affordable subcompact offering in the Indian market. It is priced between ₹ 5.59 lakh to ₹ 7.73 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Like the Maruti Dzire, the Tigor too is a petrol-only vehicle. It comes powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine, which comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and an optional AMT unit.
Ford Aspire
The Ford Aspire comes with a bunch of decent features, however, it misses out on a few such as projector headlamps and LED DRLs. It comes in both petrol and diesel options. Both 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. The sedan is priced in the range of ₹ 7.27 lakh to ₹ 8.72 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Hyundai i20
We know that the Hyundai i20 is not a subcompact sedan. But it is as long as Amaze, wider and longer than the Amaze. The all-new i20 is bolder and sportier than before. The car shares its mechanicals with the Venue subcompact SUV, which includes a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel. The premium hatchback is priced in the range of ₹ 6.85 lakh to ₹ 11.34 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
