Ambala, July 23

Activists of the Haryana Democratic Front (HDF), led by its general secretary Chitra Sarwara, today staged a dharna at the Sadar Bazaar in Ambala Cantonment against the rising fuel prices. They slammed the Centre and state governments for not extending any relief to the general public.

Sarwara said: “Rising fuel and gas prices are the result of wrong economic policies of the Central Government. Prices of essential commodities have been increasing continuously, but the government has failed to provide any relief to the common man. The rising prices have been affecting all sections of society. The government has left no stone unturned to empty the pockets of common man and people are forced to use their savings and fixed deposits to manage their expenses. We demand that the government should reduce the excise tax and VAT on petrol and diesel to give some relief to common man. We also demand that fuel must be brought under GST. We have to raise our voice collectively against the wrong policies of the government.” — TNS
