LUCKNOW: Covid-19 vaccinations in the city crossed the milestone of over 18
lakh doses with more than 22,500 people rolling up their sleeves to take the
jab on Friday.
With this, over 4.21 lakh (11.6%) people among the district’s 36 lakh adult population are now fully immunised with the two-dose course, while more than 9.64 lakh (26.7%) people have received one shot.
The average daily vaccinations, which were low for the last few days, gathered pace on Friday with a total 22,677 people, including 10,379 (45%) women, queuing up at 86 centres to get the jab. While 16,014 beneficiaries took the first shot, 6,663 got the second.
It was the second time after July 9 that the daily inoculations crossed 22,000. The jump in the vaccinations was due to the increase in the number of centres.
Among beneficiaries, 13,027 (57.4% ) were in the 18-44 age group, 6,765 (29.8%) in the 45-59 years category and 25,39 (11.1%) elderlies aged 60 years or above.
District immunisation officer Dr
MK Singh said authorities were planning to increase the number of booths in the coming days to vaccinate more people daily. “We received the first consignment of fresh
vaccine supplies on Thursday. More shipments are likely to arrive in the next few days. The drive will be expanded as per availability of vaccines,” he added.
