Gurgaon: The CM’s flying squad has busted a racket of fake identity documents and arrested a person from Gurgaon for making fake Aadhaar cards, voter identity cards and PAN cards without any supporting documents, police said on Friday.
As many as 1,000 fake Aadhaar cards, in the name of different people, 600 Aadhaar forms and over 1,000 blank Aadhaar cards have been seized from his possession.
Eye and fingerprint scanners and laptops have also been recovered.
The accused, according to police, had a collection of original identity documents of various people and used them to make fake identity cards. The accused used to make changes in the digital format of the Aadhaar card, PAN card and voter card, and then replace names, addresses and pictures. He would then print the fake document.
DSP (flying squad) Inderjeet Yadav said they got information about a racket, which was involved in making fake identity documents. Based on that, they raided a shop ‘Bharti and Bharti Communication’ in Nathupur and arrested a person for making fake identity documents for Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 each.
The accused was identified as Manoj Kumar Prabhakar (28), a resident of Nathupur. The accused failed to produce any registration or certificate from competent authorities for making government identity cards.
An FIR has been registered at DLF Phase-3 police station under sections 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery), 468 (forging document), 471 (using forged document) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and as well as under the IT Act.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had taken the shop on lease from Dharam Singh of Nathupur. For the past two to three months, he was making fake identity documents. Initially, he started a shop to recharge pre-paid connections and transfer money through various mobile wallets. Gradually, he started making fake documents. The shop had put up a poster claiming that they make Aadhar cards, PAN cards, driving licenses, etc.
“We are trying to find out how many people have made fake identity documents from this place and how they have used them,” said the DSP, adding that they are trying to find out if more persons were involved in the racket.
