MANGALURU: Days after a call recording purportedly made by BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel hinting at a change of leadership in the state went viral, former minister B Ramanath Rai alleged the episode has exposed the extent of corruption that prevails in the state.
Referring to Kateel’s conversation, Rai said, “BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel while speaking to his friend had said there will be a change in the political scenario in the state and the chief minister will be changed. Kateel asked his friend not to give ‘anything’ now. If you must give ‘anything’, don’t give it now, Kateel is heard saying,” he said.
The Congress leader told reporters on Saturday that the conversation indicates that Kateel is indirectly agreeing to the extent of corruption that exists in the state. Further, Rai ridiculed a delegation of MLAs who filed a complaint to Mangaluru city police seeking an investigation into the audio clip. Rai added, “Chief minister BS Yediyurappa himself has recognized the voice, but unfortunately our MLAs could not.”
