Maggie Q, Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Keaton star in the action-packed thriller Protege.
Directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale), the film follows Anna (Maggie Q), who's been trained for years by her mentor and father-figure Moody (Jackson) to become one of the world's premier assassins.
When Moody is suddenly murdered, Anna makes it her mission to find and kill the person responsible. But first, she must overcome her nemesis Rembrandt (Keaton), whose interest in her expands beyond protecting the very person Anna's hunting.
Speaking about the film, Maggie said: "We do some really great action in this movie. You've got great sexy dynamic relationships, there's a lot of humour in the script, but there are also some pretty heavy themes that do make you think and allow you a real emotional experience. I cried when I watched the film.
"I was able to do stunts that I haven't done in my entire career in this movie with one of the best action directors in the world."
On working with Maggie Q Samuel L. Jackson says: "Maggie was amazing. To see her attack, among the physical things she had to do, she also had psychological baggage to carry, which was great to watch."
The film releases in South African cinemas on 10 September.
