Wind, rain and hail lash South Australia
More than 16,000 properties across South Australia are without power as intense thunderstorms lash the state, bringing high winds, heavy rain and hail.
The power outages are mostly through suburban Adelaide and the Mt Lofty Ranges but services are also down through parts of the Eyre and Yorke peninsulas and in the state's southeast.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for the southern half of South Australia.
A vigorous cold front moving across the settled areas would continue to bring rain and damaging winds ahead of conditions moderating on Sunday, the bureau said.
Locations to be affected include Adelaide, Mount Barker, Port Lincoln, Maitland, Kingscote, Port Pirie, Mount Gambier, Keith and Murray Bridge.
Wind gusts of up to 125km/h are possible with Adelaide forecast to have up to 15mm of rain. Higher falls are likely across the Adelaide Hills.
The SES said by midday on Saturday it had responded to 118 calls for assistance, most related to fallen trees or minor flooding.
