East and adjoining Central India will also receive heavy to very heavy rains for the next two days, according to the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) latest weather bulletin. Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are predicted to receive heavy falls today, the IMD said. Isolated heavy to very heavy falls are likely in these regions on 25th and 26th July.
The IMD has also predicted an increase in widespread rainfall activity in the northeastern states of India from 26th July onwards.

Amidst heavy showers, Navy and Coast Guard helicopters arrived in Mahad in Maharashtra’s Raigad district to airlift people stranded in floods.
As the flood water rose, people were seen rushing to the terraces of their homes, awaiting help. Some even took refuge at the state transport bus stop.
All roadways were blocked and power supply was snapped as vast swathes of the city were submerged following days of incessant heavy rainfall. Read the full report here.
Several parts of Goa, including Sattari and Bicholim tehsils in north and Dharbandora in south, are reeling under a flood-like situation, where a large number of houses got inundated as the water level of some rivers rose following heavy rains over the past few days, officials said on Friday. However, no loss of human life has been reported so far due to it, they said.
"At least 100 houses in Sattari tehsil have been under water since Thursday night as the water level of the Mahadayi river increased due to incessant rains that has been lashing the state since over a week now," a senior official said.
"There were no fatalities, but flood-like situation exists. Those people whose houses have gone completely under water have shifted to safer places on their own," he said. Almost half of Velus village located near Valpoi town in Sattari, is inundated, while several other villages were cut off as roads and culverts are under water, eyewitnesses said. (Reuters)
Delhiites woke up to a humid Friday morning and the minimum temperature settled at 26.3 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season's average. The relative humidity at 8:30 am was 84 per cent. The weather office has forecast partly cloudy skies with the possibility of light rain or thundershowers. The maximum temperature is likely to settle around 35 degrees Celsius. Amidst intense flooding, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) shifted people from Chikhali in Kohlapur district to safer locations. Several other parts of the state are also facing flooding due to incessant heavy rainfall.
