The department on Thursday fixed the prices of sand sold at identified storage places in Patna, Rohtas, Aurangabad and Bhojpur districts.
Necessary steps are being taken continuously by the government and administration to check illegal sand mining and mafia in Bihar. Meanwhile, the mining department has fixed the sale rates of sand in four districts of the state including Patna.
The department on Thursday fixed the prices of sand sold at identified storage places in Patna, Rohtas, Aurangabad and Bhojpur districts.
According to the notification issued by the mining department, the cost per 100 cubic feet of sand in Patna will be Rs 4,027, while the same sand will be sold for Rs 4,000 in Bhojpur district.
Gopal Meena, Director of Mines Department of the state said that the rate per 100 cubic feet (CFT) in Rohtas and Aurangabad has been fixed at Rs 3,950. It will be sold from the places where sand was stocked.
Mining in the river bed of Bihar will be closed from June to September. Even before this decision, the stock of sand was kept with the licensed dealers.
Patna District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh has issued instructions to the circle officers of Bikram, Paliganj, Bihta, Dulhinbazar and Maner blocks to be vigilant and ensure that sand is sold at the rate fixed by the government. The DM has made clusters in all the concerned blocks with the help of the police stations.
The officials have been asked to ensure that the same is sold from the identified storage points by the authorized dealers/contractors. The District Magistrate has also warned of disciplinary action against those violating the instructions. He said that under no circumstances illegal mining would be allowed from the sand ghats.
It may be noted that recently a total of 42 police officers, including the SPs of Aurangabad and Bhojpur, were transferred for their failure to check illegal sand mining in their jurisdiction.
The action was taken following a report sent by the State Police Headquarters to the Home Department on the basis of a recent investigation conducted by the Economic Offenses Unit.
