Shares of Mahindra & Mahindra (up 0.76 per cent), Ashok Leyland (up 0.2 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries (up 0.2 per cent), TVS Motor Company (up 0.18 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries (up 0.07 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Tata Motors (down 2.31 per cent), Bharat Forge (down 1.54 per cent), TIINDIA (down 0.71 per cent), Bosch (down 0.54 per cent) and MRF (down 0.49 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.34 per cent down at 10201.35.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 32.0 points at 15856.05, while the BSE Sensex stood up 138.59 points at 52975.8.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 22 ended in the green, while 28 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, SAIL, YES Bank, Federal Bank and NMDC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Zomato Ltd., Tainwala Chem, Jocil Ltd, Asian Hotels (E) and Wendt India hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Madhav Copper, Walpar Nutritions Ltd., Keerti Knowledge and AKG Exim Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
