The Packers have another potential disaster on their hands.

With 2020 NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers’ future uncertain, franchise wide receiver Davante Adams might follow the franchise quarterback out the door as the 2020 first-team All-Pro has broken off long-term contract extension talks with Green Bay, according to multiple reports.

The Packers reportedly do not want to make Adams the highest-paid receiver in football. He caught a league-leading 18 touchdowns last year and has made the Pro Bowl four years in a row.

After discussing a new contract for months, negotiations have stalled. It now appears the 28-year-old – who is heading into the final year of his four-year, $58 million contract – will be hitting the open market in 2022.

Adams – who called a reunion with old Fresno State teammate and current Raiders quarterback Derek Carr “a dream” – has said he won’t hold out because he would rather not get fined, so the Redwood City, Calif. native will likely be suiting up for the Packers this season. Rodgers, on the other hand, may not.

The 37-year-old quarterback did not attend mandatory minicamp last month due to his frustration with the front office. With Packers training camp kicking off July 28, two of the faces of the franchise are disgruntled – as the end of an era possibly looms near.
