The Magpies have come out firing and are outdoing the Power in the middle then pumping the ball forward.

Rivals drop big news on eve of Power match

By Roy Ward

Maybe I’m too cynical but can’t help noticing that Port’s arch-rivals Adelaide Crows have dropped some major re-signing news tonight, just minutes from the Power being on Friday night footy.

The Crows have re-signed first-year star Riley Thilthorpe to a three-year extension that keeps him with Adelaide until, at least, the end of 2025.

Thilthorpe was contracted for next year but the Crows have made sure he is locked in as they continue to build their next premiership contending side.

“I’ve really enjoyed my first season in the AFL system and being given the opportunity to play for the club I grew up barracking for,” Thilthorpe said in a press release.

“It’s been great to work closely with all of my coaches but also the experience of someone like Taylor Walker in the forward line helping my development.

“I’m excited about the future of the club and am happy to know I’ll be here for the next four years which will allow me to continue to focus on my footy.”

Boak plays 300th

Port Adelaide start Travis Boak plays his 300th game tonight and equals the club record for games with Kane Cornes.

The medical subs

No late changes for either side tonight.

The medical subs are Sam Mayes (Collingwood) and Mason Cox (Collingwood).

It’s interesting Collingwood has a big man as the medical sub instead of someone who is more of a utility.

Dixon dangerous against struggling sides

Port Adelaide is the only side in the competition to boast a 100-win percentage against teams outside the top-eight this year – winning all 10 matches. Collingwood has recorded one win and seven losses against top-eight teams. Charlie Dixon has finished goalless in just one match against bottom-10 teams – averaging 1.9 goals and
1.2 score assists.
