HYDERABAD: An employee of Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Limited (
TS-Genco) along with his wife and their son ended their lives by jumping into the Krishna river at
Nagarjuna Sagar due to health problems. Though the incident occurred on Wednesday night, their bodies were fished out on Friday.
According to Nagarjuna Sagar police, the deceased were, M Ramaiah, 37, Junior Plant Attendant at the TS Genco's first station at Nagarjuna Sagar, his wife Nagamani, 30, and their son,
Satwik, 12, all residents of
Vijayapuri.
On Wednesday night, Nagarjuna Sagar police noticed a scooter parked near the New Bridge on Krishna River and when they verified the registration details of the vehicle they realised that it belongs to Ramaiah's family on Thursday.
As Ramaiah's house in Vijayapuri was locked, police contacted his parents who live in nearby Chintalapalem village and opened the lock. "Cell phones of the family were found at home along with a suicide note.
Ramaiah wrote in the suicide note that they decided to end their lives due to health and financial problems. While saying that no one is responsible for their suicide, Ramaiah apologised to family members for taking the drastic step," Nagarjuna
Sagar CI Gowri Naidu said.
While police were searching for the bodies of the victims in the river, they found Satwik's body on Friday morning in the river and in the afternoon, the couple's bodies were also found on the river bank near Chintalapalem in Nalgonda district. The preliminary probe revealed that chronic health issues could be the main reason for the
suicide pact. A case was registered under section 174 of CrPC and the bodies of the victims were shifted to a local hospital for postmortem.
