UDUPI: A seven-year-old male leopard was trapped in a cage kept by forest officials, late at night on Thursday, and released into the wild on Friday. Deputy range forest officer Suresh Ganiga told TOI, that based on complaints from locals, that pet dogs had gone missing from homes, a cage was kept near the house of Ashok Nayak in Gundupade of Kattingeri village, about 15 days ago. Once the leopard was trapped, based on the directions of range forest officer Subrahmanya Acharya, it was released into the wild. Officials who were a part of the operation include Suresh Ganiga, Hiriyadka DRFO Jayaram and forest guards Sunish Babu, Devraj, Jayaram Shetty and Keshav.
