Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.38%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Friday.

Shares of MPhasis (up 5.54 per cent), Wipro (up 2.56 per cent), HCL Technologies (up 1.57 per cent), Coforge (up 0.54 per cent) and Infosys (up 0.02 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Tech Mahindra (down 1.53 per cent), Mindtree (down 1.36 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech (down 1.02 per cent), Oracle Financial Services Software (down 0.98 per cent) and Tata Consultancy (down 0.11 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.38 per cent up at 29894.3.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 32.0 points at 15856.05, while the BSE Sensex stood up 138.59 points at 52975.8.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 22 ended in the green, while 28 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Zomato Ltd., SAIL, YES Bank and Federal Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Zomato Ltd., Tainwala Chem, Jocil Ltd, Asian Hotels (E) and Wendt India hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Madhav Copper, Walpar Nutritions Ltd., Keerti Knowledge and AKG Exim Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
