KURUKSHETRA: The police on Wednesday arrested an accused after recovering about 2.79 quintals of
ganja (cannabis) from his possession buried underground at a closed property under limits of
Thanesar City police station.
Kurukshetra headquarters deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Subhash Chander said the accused has been identified as Ruliya Ram of Gandhi Nagar, Kurukshetra, who was produced before the court on Thursday. The court sent the accused on a 10-day police remand for further investigation.
DSP Subhash said that on July 5, Thanesar city SHO inspector Devender Kumar had received the tip-off that Ruliya Ram of Gandhi Nagar has stocked huge quantity of ganja at his property in Silver City in Kurukshetra.
"It was informed that a room is built at the property which is locked and that if raided, ganja could be recovered in huge quantity. The team conducted the raid lead by
DSP Narendra Singh. When the room was checked from inside, no ganja was recovered. When the room was dug, ganja buried and stocked in plastic sacks was recovered from there. The contraband weighed about 2.79 quintals", said DSP Subhash.
The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the
Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Thanesar City police station.
