Kendrapara: Agitated journalists Thursday detained five MLAs inside a room at the district collector’s office in Kendrapara over a journalist being attacked by a female constable few days back.
Demanding action against the female cop, journalists detained MLAs Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Sashi Bhusan Behera, Sabitri Agrawal, Dhruba Charan Sahoo and Pratap Keshari Deb.
According to the journalists, BJP members were staging a demonstration at Kendrapara Police SP office over an attack on Dalit families few days ago.
Bhimsen Sethi, a web journalist of a news channel, had gone there to collect news. He found a female cop identified as Pinu Nayak on duty without mask. He clicked a photograph of her and posted it on social media platforms. At this, Nayak lost her cool and started slapping Bhimsen hurling abuses all the while.
Demanding stringent action against the accused female cop, journalists Thursday gheraoed collector’s office and detained the legislators.
