HYDERABAD: To take forward the
green initiative further, over three crore saplings will be planted in one hour ‘
Mukkoti Vrisharchana’ on
KTR’s birthday on July 24 across the state. The task is being taken up by the Green India Challenge (GIC) by involving nearly one crore people including
TRS party workers right from ordinary members to ministers, non-governmental organizations, people irrespective of their caste, creed and religion and from different areas and professions will take part in the green programme.
“During
Telangana CM KCR’s birthday, we targeted about one crore saplings “Koti Vruksharchana’ plantation in February. We succeeded in planting about 1.7 crore on a single day. About 1,500 saplings from Kadem nursery were brought for the programme in February. Now three crore saplings are available in our state,” Green India Challenge founder and MP Joginapally Santosh Kumar said.
Of three crore saplings, while one crore will be planted in the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority jurisdiction, two crore in districts. As KTR is also working president of TRS, ministers, MPs, MLAs and MLCs have already started preparations in their respective districts and constituencies. For instance, Ibrahimpatnam MLA Manchireddy Kishan Reddy identified three land parcels each with 10 acres exclusively for plantation programme. Many of the leaders are preferring plantation in Miyawaki style to plant more saplings in less space.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his wish to join the green movement of Green India Challenge on one of the days during the monsoon on the request of
TRS MP Santosh Kumar.
Green India Challenge on July 4 this year planted one million saplings in one hour on the occasion of
MLA Jogu Ramanna’s 58th birthday in Adilabad district and this has been sent to Guiness Book of World Record to break the existing record of planting 3 lakh, 3 thousand saplings in Turkey in 2019. It also received appreciation certificates from the representatives of Wonder Book of Records for successfully executing the task in Durga Nagar region.
Ten days ago, Mahabubnagar district administration had set a new Guinness Record for the ‘Largest Seed Ball Sentence' at programme organised as part of the Green India Challenge. Over 73,900 seed balls to frame the largest sentence using seed balls. The sentence framed was “Two crore seed balls made and planted by
SHG women transform Mahabubnagar into Hetero Green Belt.
