Over 84% of Spanish broadband lines above 100Mbps - CNMC

Well over 8 in 10 (84%) of Spanish residents had access to broadband lines offering speeds above 100Mbps at the end of 2020, up from 76 percent a year earlier, according to an annual survey from the CNMC that complements the regulator's monthly and quarterly reports. According to the data, Spain ended 2020 with close to 70 million NGA (new generation network) accesses, up 5.2 million year on year, due above all to fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) additions. The remaining 16 percent of lines still lacking 100Mbps broadband will be upgraded by 2025 under the government's new UNICO programme.
