Power theft offence against industry

Thane, Jul 20 (UNI) The city police registered a criminal offence against an industry in Thane city for alleged power theft the MSEDCL stated in an official release here.
The release said that the during the raids on the premises of Indian Technical Works at Shivai Nagar, it was found that there was tampering and theft of power. The user had modified the meter and made use of the remote kit for stealing power.
The raid was conducted by the officials of the MSEDCL where the theft was unearthed.
According to the release the establishment had stolen a total of 1,35,466 units of power which works out to Rs. 24,72,160.
The MSEDCL filed a complaint with the Vatak Nagar police station against the owner of the unit, Ajmal Jamal Sayyed. No no arrest is made in this connection so far.
The offence is registered under the section 135 of the Indian Electricity Act and the further probe into the case is being carried out by the Vartak nagar police the release added.
