In a symbolic protest, she claimed that she had “plastered the camera” to protect herself from Pegasus alleged snooping.
Launching a scathing attack on the BJP over the Pegasus leaks, Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday alleged that the saffron party intends to “turn India into a surveillance state” where “democracy is in danger”.

Names of Trinamool Congress Diamond Harbour MP and Mamata's nephew Abhisek Banerjee and poll strategist Prashant Kishor's names have surfaced in Pegasus list.

“Prashant Kishor’s phone is tapped and I talk to him, so my conversation also gets recorded. I cannot talk to anyone as my phone is also tapped. The BJP has completely bulldozed the federal structure,” Mamata said while speaking at the Martyrs’ Day programme in Kolkata.

Displaying her mobile phone, Mamata showed how she had covered the phone camera with tape. In a symbolic protest, she claimed that she had “plastered the camera” to protect herself from Pegasus alleged snooping.

“I have plastered my phone. We should also plaster the Centre, otherwise, India will get destroyed. Pegasus is dangerous,” she said. Snooping allegations against the political leaders in connection with Pegasus spyware leaks have created a furore in the national political circles.

Reports have surfaced in the media of alleged snooping on journalists, politicians and other personalities of India using Pegasus, a spyware developed by Israeli firm NSO Group.

“They don’t trust their own ministers and misuse agencies,” Mamata exclaimed.

She also slammed the Centre for their monumental failure during the second wave of the pandemic.

Coining the 'Khela Habe' slogan for the country, which became very popular during Bengal polls, Mamata Banerjee said “The ‘khela habe’ will happen in all states outside Bengal until BJP is removed from the country. We will celebrate ‘Khela Diwas’ on August 16.”

Trinamool Supremo Mamata Banerjee addressed a virtual rally today on Martyr's Day (Shahid Diwas), which was telecast virtually through giant screens in various parts of the country, including Gujarat, UP, New Delhi and Tripura.

Leaders of Opposition were invited to watch Mamata's address in New Delhi. Congress leader P Chidambaram, Digvijay Singh, NCP's Sharad Pawar, Supriya Sule, Samajwadi Party's Ramgopal Yadav, AAP's Sanjay Singh, Sharad Yadav attended the 21 July program at the Constitution club in New Delhi.
