An announcement
has been made by Capgemini regarding ordering only hybrid electric cars and
vans for its 12,000-vehicle company fleet. The company is going to transit into
a fully electric fleet by 2030.
As per reports, the company has also joined the EV100 global
initiative. Under this initiative, the companies that want to switch to
electric vehicles come together. By joining this initiative, Capgemini wants to reinforce its commitment to
accelerating its global EV transition to a 100% electric fleet. This commitment
to shift to EVs is a part of a broader sustainable travel transformation with
which the company wants to introduce a new travel policy to reduce business
travels and also the employees will focus on sustainable commuting by making
fewer carbon choices.
The Group has also developed new links with selected leasing
companies and car manufacturers that offer EVs and hybrid vehicles. The company
has stopped all the previous orders of petrol and Internal Combustion Engine
(ICE) diesel vehicles and has begun to yield sustainable outcomes. The company
aims to eliminate some 13% of its polluting cars this year and a further 24% by
2022.
According to Vincent Moreau, Global Head of Real Estate, Capgemini,
the company has taken this bold move to accelerate the transition to a more
sustainable travel model because of the impact of carbon emissions on climate
change. This is a critical step in the journey of the company. He also said
that the company is looking forward to joining other organisations with the
EV100.
The company is increasing its investment in electric charging points
and will switch to 100% renewable electricity for its operations by 2025.
