Rajasthan Panchayat by-election-2021: 130 candidates will try their luck in the electoral fray

Now 130 candidates will try their luck for the by-elections for the post of sarpanch in 48 gram panchayats of 22 districts of Rajasthan.


Chief Electoral Officer and Secretary Chitra Gupta has given this information. He said that out of total 48 gram panchayats of Rajasthan, no nomination papers were filed in 8 gram panchayats, while candidates for 6 gram panchayats were elected unopposed. In the remaining 34 gram panchayats, 130 candidates are left in the fray.

He said that a total of 214 candidates had filed 215 nomination papers for the post of Sarpanch in 40 gram panchayats of 22 districts of the state. After scrutiny and withdrawal of nominations, 130 candidates are left in the fray. The election of Sarpanch will be done through EVM and the election of Panch will be done through ballot box.

Chief Electoral Officer and Secretary Chitra Gupta informed that allotment of symbols has been done for the candidates. Voting will be held on July 25 from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm, while counting of votes will take place immediately after the end of polling.
