Like any other social media platform, Instagram has certain guidelines in place regarding what type of content can be posted and shared on the platform. But there can be content on the social networking app that does not violate these guidelines but still can be sensitive for certain users. For example, posts related to violence. This is the reason it has now come up with a new setting that will put users in control of what appears in their feeds.

The new Instagram setting is called Sensitive Content Control. It works exactly as the name suggests which is to let users control the sensitivity level of content. It has three sensitivity levels to choose from: Allow, Limit, and Limit Even More. The "Limit" level is the one that is selected by default for all users. The users can choose either of the two remaining levels depending on whether they want to see sensitive content even more or even less respectively.

This setting is accessible by visiting Settings -> Account -> Sensitive Control Content. One can refer to the screenshot below to get an idea of where to find the new option. It should be noted that this setting is applicable for the Explore section where Instagram shows posts that it thinks might interest you. All posts in your home feed will appear as it is depending on the accounts you choose to follow.

The new setting is part of Instagram's attempt to make its platform a safe place for users. A couple of months ago, it allowed users to hide the like count of their posts. This was done to reduce the anxiety and peer pressure many users have to go through when their posts do not receive the same level of likes as some other accounts.
