Gurgaon: A 31-year-old private firm executive was allegedly attacked with sticks by his neighbour and three others on Monday evening, hours after an argument with the accused’s wife over parking. Both the complaint and the accused live in the same tower of Vipul World in Sector 48, but different floors.
The building, which has four floors, has a stilt parking facility for each flat owner. On Monday, the complainant, who had recently bought a flat on the second floor, parked his car in the area meant for first-floor residents. This led to an argument with the accused’s wife, who has a flat on the first floor.
“Yes, we had some argument over parking. Later, I removed my car and helped her park her car. That was around 2pm,” the private firm employee said. Around three hours later, the man got a call from the property dealer who had helped him get the flat at Vipul World. The broker allegedly told him that his neighbour was miffed with the argument over parking and wanted to discuss the issue with him.
As soon as the complainant reached the first floor, the accused allegedly abused him and started hitting him with sticks along with three others. “They kept hitting me for five minutes. I was called downstairs saying that the man wanted to talk to me,” he said in his complaint. “My wife and I are concerned about our safety,” he added.
The station house officer (SHO) of Sadar police station, Dinesh Kumar, said they were checking CCTV footage to find out what had happened. “Investigation is underway,” the SHO said. Till Tuesday evening, no arrest had been made.
However, a complaint was registered under sections 323 (assault),506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC. “Parking space is limited in the society. Every house owner has one stilt parking reserved for them. People often park in each other’s areas but there is no dispute. It all depends on the kind of relationship one has with his neighbours,” said Satish Kumar, a resident of Vipul World.
