Indian electric
vehicle makers welcomed the Rajasthan government’s EV policy announced last
week. They said that state-level initiatives would increase the awareness of
the benefits of EV and its future.
Rajasthan became
the 16th state to roll out an EV policy. The policy offers to
reimburse SGST (State Goods and Service Tax) along with giving a one-time
incentive based on the battery capacity. These incentives are above the FAME II
incentives announced by the central government.
Revolt Motors, a
RattanIndia-backed company, said that the implementation of EV Policy will make
EV motorcycles more affordable and accessible to consumers. It added that the
incentives for Revolt bikes will work out to Rs 10,690 per bike.
Jeetender
Sharma, MD & Founder, Okinawa Autotech, said these state-level initiatives
are expected to increase the awareness of the benefits of EV.
Sheetal
Bhalerao, COO, WardWizard Innovations and Mobility Ltd, said these EV policies
outlays the commitment to making India carbon-free and promotes sustainable
mobility.
Shamsher Dewan,
Group Head & Vice President - Corporate Sector, Credit rating agency ICRA
said Rajasthan accounted for 5% of the total automotive sales in India, but a
higher 9% of total 2W sales in FY2021.
Rajasthan
government has offered an incentive Rs 5,000 – 10,000 for e-2W and Rs 10,000 –
20,000 for e-3W. The incentive varies as per battery size as measured in Kwh
terms. In addition, the government has also offered an SGST waiver for all EVs
registered before March 31, 2021. It will translate to an additional benefit of
2.5% as EVs.
